When it comes to self-acceptance it all starts with understanding all aspects of your being and your journey. We have to look within, have empathy and compassion without judgments towards ourselves, after all we all have a story but we are not our story.
One of the hardest parts is to look at yourself and your actions and ask yourself "why". Its not easy seeing your own faults and mistakes hung out for laundry but this is a key step to knowing your true self, your authentic self. Self-love and acceptance is to love every piece of you and to offer yourself the same kindness that you would another, to step back and view the bigger picture and to step into the you that was there all along.
Over the years we can gain something called old beliefs, this is a negative thought process that comes natural to us after years of our subconscious mind stepping in, for example "i cant do that, I'm not clever enough" or "I'll look fat if i wear that" these are just examples but basically its a negative way of talking to ourselves that may have been installed at a young age but now its time for an upgrade!
There are several ways of overcoming this so you are able to show yourself the love and respect you deserve, there's EFT (emotional freedom techniques) which is a tapping practice, Mantra, Affirmations, Meditations and Yoga. All of theses practices will help you to gain a deeper connection to yourself while giving you support on your journey of self acceptance.
The main goal with self acceptance is to offer yourself a chance of forgiveness, compassion and kindness, after all nobody on this planet is perfect and the sooner we can embrace this the sooner we will feel happier in our own skin. Releasing shame, doubt and fear so our true selves can flourish and breathe. Accept your story, learn and grow from it but please don't forget that each day we get an opportunity to start again, to put yourself on the path you wish, the opportunity to love yourself more and a chance to become your own best friend.
So if after reading this you'd like to embark on you self acceptance journey then lets take the first step, I'd like you to write 10 quailties about yourself on a post-it note and place that note on a mirror or dressing table, anywhere that you visit daily. As you'll view this daily this will start to bring your positive feelings forward and in no time they will become a new belief. Another way is to use a post-it again but to write 3 mantras that align with your needs e.g. I am beauitfull inside and out, I will be kind and considerate to myself or I have an abundence of love to give to myself and others, then you would place in a familar place and repeat the mantra daily.
Warmest Wishes
